New is the buzzword these days at Rose Bank Winery.
The Newtown Township winery is brimming with excitement over the recent addition of a new winemaker, Richard Tenaglia.
“He is making some great wines, has plans to introduce some new wines and add onto our vineyard plantings,” said Rose Bank Winery general manager Peter Gower.
The winery produces just shy of two dozen wine varieties, including a vast selection of reds and whites, as well as unique dessert wines such as cappavino (coffee-flavored wine), blackberry, blueberry, chello (lemon wine) and red raspberry.
The new vineyard plantings will determine which wine varieties Tenaglia is able to make. His expertise is in Italian varietals, according to Gower.
In addition to a soon-to-be-expanded menu of wines, Rose Bank has hired five bartenders to assist with special events, like weddings, bridal showers, baby showers and other gatherings. Bartending staff are needed as the winery implements its new drinks packages. Available for special events, the packages feature Pennsylvania-made spirits, cocktails, and beer – as well as wine – and range in price from $20 to $35 per person. Non-alcoholic drink packages are also available for $10 per person. Previously, guests or caterers brought and served non-wine alcoholic beverages at the winery. With the addition of the drinks packages, Rose Bank is a one-stop shop for all their guests’ drink needs.
For guests visiting the winery’s tasting room, canned and bottled beer is available in addition to wine. Speaking of the tasting room, Rose Bank recently relocated its tasting room downstairs so that it’s upstairs space could be used to host cocktail hour for special events.
Just in time for spring and summer, Rose Bank kicked off its food truck and live music Saturdays in May. Held each Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. through October, the winery welcomes various food trucks and musicians. The events tie in nicely with the winery’s outdoor patio, which is adjacent to pastures featuring sheep and goats.
“People really like it,” Gower said.
